A Quilt from the World!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my crazy idea.
It all started when I was thinking about my niece in Argentina "Luciana" which was born in February 2009. I wanted to give her something special but could not think of anything. I did not want it to be a generic gift from a store. I was thinking about maybe painting or making her a teddy bear, something that could be specially from me and last a lifetime. But then as you know the artist's mind starts to go all over the place, which I have been doing myself alot lately, travelling whenever I get a chance. So I thought what if I got her something from all of my travels? but then I thought it would not be enough..... and this is how my idea came about...

I always wanted to make my own quilt. But what if I made my recently born niece Luciana one? Wouldn't it be a nice way to welcome her into the world?

Now my other idea was... what if each fabric square was from the different places I have been to? The problem is I have not been to MANY countries YET ;) only a handfull...
so to solve this problem I came up with a new idea .... what if I asked nice people from all over the world to send me a nice piece of fabric at their discretion that would represent their country best? I loved this idea so much I could not go back to sleep. My fiance thought I was crazy, but why not try? I mean with the technology we have today and all of these networking sites we have and also all of the nice people that would like to participate.... there has to be a way to do this.... so I'm going to try and ask you today...

Would you be willing to send me a sample?

oh and I'm not picky, I dont want these to be expensive either, I come from a very humble town in Argentina and I understand the unconveniences and expenses, but if you cannot send because of the shipping expense I'll gladly pay for it. I just want to see where this idea can take us...

So thank you so much in advance and please share your thoughts....
